Amazon: free Palm Centro after rebates if bought with new service plan
Mar 07, 2008 - 6:51 PM - by dpopeck
Palm Infocenter has reported "Amazon.com is now offering the Palm Centro for free after rebates when purchased with a new service plan. The offer is good on both the recently announced AT&T Centro and the Black and Red versions on Sprint."

As always review for yourself and read all the fine print. It looks like fine deal if you are looking for a new phone. Go hit the Centro reviews and see if it is what you are looking for.

Palm Takes Shot at Blackberry
Feb 15, 2008 - 9:57 PM - by dpopeck
After a second major RIMM outage in a year, the official Palm blog had a post questioning the RIMM network. In a post titled "Why risk a network outage?" Palm states:
Quote:
"Simply add a Palm smartphone and you have a voice and email solution that will keep you in touch and productive, without the NOC hassles - or the NOC outages."

With RIMM pounding Palm in sales, I guess all is fair in love and war.

2007 - Palm Year in Review
Jan 12, 2008 - 2:02 PM - by dpopeck
2007 - Palm Year in Review. Interesting year synopsis for the struggling phone manufacturer. It will be interesting to see how the market continues with the continued presence of Apple in the market.

I am a new owner of a Palm Treo 755p on the Sprint network. I just wanted to list a few add-on apps that I have installed which are running perfectly.
NVBackup, Noah Pro, CallRec, FileZ, kMeteo, LEDOff and Phone Technician

As I find more I will try to update the thread if everyone would like.

Game Review: "Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars"
May 22, 2006 - 6:29 PM - by xavierp
I have to say that I was very happy to see that this game is available for the Palm. When this game first came out I bought it (in fact, it's on a shelf somewhere) but my girlfriend completed it. I hadn't seen most of the game. And now I have my own copy!

The install was extremely straightforward. It's the same as for any Palm software: unzip and then either double click the .prc file or open the Palm Installer and drop the files onto it. Then hotsync as normal. This game has slightly higher memory needs than i was used to, I had to grab a 512mb memory card and then clear some unused apps from my phone. I had 808kb free on the phone and that was not enough. Once i had cleared some space, the game installed and ran easily.

Anyone familiar with the game will have no surprises when running the Palm version. It's the original game in miniature. In fact, any drawbacks I have found are not down to Astraware, but to the fact that the Palm is not entirely... [Read More]
